AN INNOVATIVE PLAN TO PROTECT A UNIQUE PIECE OF FARMLAND IN OUR COMMUNITY AND GUARANTEE FUTURE ACCESS TO LOCALLY GROWN FOOD IS UNDERWAY.
WORKING WITH THE LAND CONSERVANCY OF B.C. (TLC), A CO-OPERATIVE HAS BEEN FORMED TO PURCHASE AND PRESERVE A 133-ACRE FARM AT THE EAST END OF HORSE LAKE. OUR GOAL: TO PERMANENTLY PROTECT ITS HERITAGE, AGRICULTURAL AND ECOLOGICAL VALUES. TLC, CEEDS AND A LOCAL GROUP OF COMMUNITY MEMBERS ARE INVITING OTHER INTERESTED COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO JOIN IN THIS COOPERATIVE INITIATIVE AND TO SHARE IN ITS MANY BENEFITS. THESE INCLUDE COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT IN THE FARM'S OPERATION WITH PREFERRED ACCESS TO THE FARM'S ORGANIC PRODUCE, EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES AND SPECIAL PROGRAMMES AND EVENTS ON THE PROPERTY.
